Gotland's biggest family park

Kneippbyn lies about three kilometres south of Visby right on the coast, and is the largest amusement and water park on the island. Under the roof of the Kneippbyn Resort Visby, the site combines two worlds: Sommarland, with more than 25 attractions, rides, play areas and electric cars, and Waterland, with slides, pools and paddling areas. There's also a bathing beach right by the sea. For families travelling with children, it's the clear day-trip destination on Gotland.

The original Villa Villekulla

The heart of the park is Villa Villekulla: the genuine film house where the Pippi Longstocking movies were shot. It stands centrally in Sommarland and you can walk through the inside, a staircase leads up to Astrid Lindgren's writing room and Pippi's attic. The villa can be booked for a visit year-round, and thanks to a slide it's suitable even for the smallest visitors from age 1. In high summer, from 22 June to 12 August, the Pippi theatre (Pippiteatern) also performs daily, the reason this particular window is the best time to come.

Waterland and Sommarland in detail

  • Waterland: slides and adventure pools take centre stage. To visit Waterland unaccompanied, you need to be at least 12 years old; individual attractions carry further age restrictions.
  • For young children: two paddling pools, Villa Villekulla with a slide suitable from age 1, and the electric cars that are a hit with kids.
  • Sommarland: more than 25 activities, from rides to play areas.
  • Adventure golf: available for an extra SEK 80 (adults) or SEK 60 (children).

Is it worth the visit?

Kneippbyn is built for a full day - Waterland, Sommarland and the beach easily fill the programme. For travellers focused purely on sightseeing with limited time, the park is easy to skip; its real appeal is for families with children and for Pippi fans who want to see the original film house. If you're only coming for the villa, you can also book a visit outside the full park season.
